There is something incredibly special about welcoming your baby in the comfort of your own home.

At Seaside Midwifery, we provide comprehensive home birth care rooted in connection, informed choice, and trust. Our approach combines attentive clinical care with the time and space to truly get to know you, your family, and what matters most to you. From your first prenatal visits through six weeks postpartum, our goal is for you to feel informed, supported, and confident throughout your journey into parenthood.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits are about much more than checking your blood pressure and listening to your baby.

Our appointments are intentionally spacious so there is time to check in on how you are feeling, answer your questions, discuss your options, prepare for birth, and build a relationship with the midwives who will be caring for you.

Throughout pregnancy, we monitor the health and well-being of both you and your baby while supporting you in making informed decisions about your care.

Prenatal visits include routine maternal and fetal assessments, education, nutritional and lifestyle guidance, birth preparation, and conversations around what to expect as pregnancy progresses.

Visits typically follow the traditional prenatal schedule:

  • Every 4 weeks through 28 weeks
  • Every 2 weeks from 28–36 weeks
  • Weekly from 36 weeks until birth
  • A prenatal home visit to prepare your space for birth
  • Additional visits when clinically indicated

Labor and Birth

When you are in active labor and ready for support, we join you in your home and remain with you throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.

We bring the clinical equipment and medications needed to safely support a planned home birth while maintaining the calm, intimate environment that makes giving birth at home so special.

Throughout labor, we monitor both you and your baby while offering reassurance, guidance, comfort measures, position changes, and hands-on support when you want it.

We support the transition into those first hours together while monitoring you and your newborn, encouraging skin-to-skin contact and helping establish feeding.

Water Birth

Warm water can be an incredible comfort tool during labor, whether you ultimately choose to give birth in the water or simply use the pool for relaxation and pain relief.

Your comprehensive midwifery package includes a birth pool rental, so you have the option to incorporate water into your labor and birth.

We will walk you through preparing your home and setting up your birth space before labor begins.

The First Hours With Your Baby

Whenever possible, baby stays skin-to-skin while we quietly monitor both of you and support your transition into the immediate postpartum period.

Your newborn receives a comprehensive newborn assessment, and we support the first feeding without unnecessarily interrupting bonding.

As an IBCLC-led midwifery practice, feeding support is naturally woven into your postpartum care from the very beginning.

Once everyone is stable, comfortable, fed, and tucked into bed, your birth team quietly heads home. And then we come back to you.

Postpartum Care

The early postpartum weeks can hold some of the biggest physical and emotional transitions of the entire experience. Rather than sending you home with instructions and saying goodbye, we continue caring for you and your baby through the first six weeks.

Your postpartum care includes visits at:

24 Hours

Early assessment of parent and baby, recovery, feeding, newborn transition, and any immediate questions.

72 Hours

Continued newborn and maternal assessment, feeding support, weight evaluation, and recovery check-in.

1 Week

Support as you settle into life with your newborn, including feeding, healing, and emotional well-being.

2 Weeks

Continued assessment of postpartum recovery, newborn growth and feeding, and your family’s adjustment.

6 Weeks

Your final comprehensive postpartum visit, focusing on recovery, transition out of the newborn period, and your ongoing health and well-being.

Labs, Testing and Ultrasounds

We take the time to explain recommended labs, screenings, and testing throughout pregnancy so you can understand your options and make informed decisions that feel right for you.

Routine prenatal labs can be ordered as part of your care, and when ultrasounds or additional evaluation are recommended, we coordinate referrals with trusted providers in the community.
